[It's not as if meat was a common delicacy around here, anyway; for a while, half the population could have passed for vegetarian.]

I found a can of corn if you want that instead.

[The way that guy just seems to have a fondness for corn. Or maybe that was corny things. Her mind was a bit fuzzy on the details right then.]

[Korra wordlessly swaps the peaches for the can of corn, poking at the peaches herself.]

Hey, even if you're not injured, you still have to look out for yourself. Or let one of us look after you when you're busy healing Kon. That's what friends do.

I just... [She sighed. It took far more effort than usual for her to open the darn thing, and when she did, she lamely swiped twice at the nearby spoon before picking it up.]

I'm not trying to be the hero here. [Not this time] I don't want to lose him. And if this is what it takes...better I take extra long naps than the alternative.

I know. [Her voice is low as she replies, and she just pokes at the peaches with her own spoon. She'll force herself to eat in a bit, but it's hard to have an appetite when your friend is bleeding everywhere.]

If it was Conner, I'd be doing the same.
