Now I feel like I need to make sure I didn't wake up to find myself in another alternative universe.

[Lets the conversation come to a slight lull before he continues on.]

So, I wanted to talk to you about a couple of things.

Yeah, I kind of figured you would.

I couldn't figure out why you were still "dating Wally" if you were just interested in being friends. I kind of understand but kind of don't. Why did you need to be dating to help him serenade Artemis?

Long story short?

He was worried that if anybody got even the slightest hint of what he was up to and why, he'd chicken out. So, to explain why I was still spending so much time with him even after we'd figured things out...I told him we could keep up the "dating" pretense for a few more days.

[Sounds a little huffy.] That makes sense but you think he could have let his best friend in, especially all things considering.

Well, to be fair, I'm pretty sure he would never have let me in if I hadn't've pried it out of him.

[Thinks about how he is keeping a secret from the team and has only shared with Artemis because she was there for it.]

Point. How did things go with Artemis anyway?

Well, she agreed to go on a date with him.

Only time will tell whether or not they both come out of said date alive.

If what happens in the future in our world is any indicator, now that they've got over their serious denial, I think they'll do just fine.

That's a relief.

I have to admit, I usually see these sorts of things coming. But Wally and Artemis? Total surprise.

I think I might be losing my touch.

I've known for awhile and then it became blatantly obvious later on. [Laughs though in the end it turns a little awkward.] We sure know how to complicate things for ourselves, huh?

I think so. I actually called you to talk about how my date-of-sorts went with Rose.

[The fact that he seemed to think this would make things less complicated sounded...promising. She hoped.]

What happened?

We had a lot of fun and she saved me from a lave-like-fish-thing that tried to eat my face. [He might be snickering but he's being honest.]

We talked about some stuff and a relationship's not really in the cards. [Sounds slightly distant as he speaks, thinking back to what Rose was like when she told him to find his happiness elsewhere. What's waiting for her when she returns home?]
