I couldn't figure out why you were still "dating Wally" if you were just interested in being friends. I kind of understand but kind of don't. Why did you need to be dating to help him serenade Artemis?
He was worried that if anybody got even the slightest hint of what he was up to and why, he'd chicken out. So, to explain why I was still spending so much time with him even after we'd figured things out...I told him we could keep up the "dating" pretense for a few more days.
I've known for awhile and then it became blatantly obvious later on. [Laughs though in the end it turns a little awkward.] We sure know how to complicate things for ourselves, huh?
We had a lot of fun and she saved me from a lave-like-fish-thing that tried to eat my face. [He might be snickering but he's being honest.]
We talked about some stuff and a relationship's not really in the cards. [Sounds slightly distant as he speaks, thinking back to what Rose was like when she told him to find his happiness elsewhere. What's waiting for her when she returns home?]
You know, I feel like I should be surprised about the fish...and yet, I'm really not.
[To say she was relieved would be putting it mildly. Of course, she didn't actually plan on vocalizing this aloud unless he specifically asked. Maybe.]
After everything that's happened, I was thinking we could give ourselves a week or two to chill and let the awkwardness pass. [Plus he didn't want to bounce from one date to another.]
And then maybe the two of us could go get something to eat and catch a movie or something.
That sounds like the best idea I've heard in a long while.
[Especially the part about giving themselves a little bit of time to recover from all the emotional whirlwinds that kept hitting.]
I found this insane movie series when I was browsing through the archives one afternoon. I've been dying to share it with someone I know would appreciate it.

Re: Call.
Point. How did things go with Artemis anyway?
Re: Call.
Only time will tell whether or not they both come out of said date alive.

Re: Call.
I have to admit, I usually see these sorts of things coming. But Wally and Artemis? Total surprise.
I think I might be losing my touch.
Re: Call.
Re: Call.
...though...hopefully, things will be a little less complicated now?
[It came out as more of a question than she'd intended]

Re: Call.
[The fact that he seemed to think this would make things less complicated sounded...promising. She hoped.]
What happened?

So...what now?

Any preference?

Re: Call.
Next weekend? We could make a night of it.
Re: Call.
Re: Call.
For once, I think I'd like to just stay in.
Re: Call.
[That means it will be just the two of them staying in her room all day and night, watching movies. His mind might be wandering a smidgen.]
